» I had heard of Dreamwidth, but never had interest. Until I made the header for [community profile] kradamadness. Everything looked so clean and neat and I just loved it. So I scored a code and created an account. Never did anything with it and mostly forgot about the site. But as many of you know, LJ decided to be an asshat. I do not appreciate that I have no say over my privacy. So I just pimped my DW account (with the same layout as I have here) and imported all of my entries and comments. I'm not leaving LJ, because I love my friends and communities too much. And I've invested too much time into the site to abandon it. But having a back-up DW account is a comforting thought. And at least that way I can keep in touch with friends who did leave LJ and went to DW.

If you have DW as well, I'm here. Add me? :D

Making graphics for a new layout is always the most fun part. Finding a layout you like is much harder, though. But I'm very pleased with this one. :D The bold, italic and underlined parts are a bit confusing, though - when you go over it with your mouse it looks like a link. :p

Also uploaded a new profile layout. \o/

IT'S FRIDAY! So that means WEEKEND. w00t!

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] princess_narnia ♥ And happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] junky_princess & [livejournal.com profile] moonmelody! Hope you ladies had a wonderful day. <3

»Stole this from [livejournal.com profile] chosenfire28

+ Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper on their LiveJournal.
+ Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
+ Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on.

Made this my desktop about two months ago. I love it so much. Usually I go for the clean and pretty wallpapers and this is one I wouldn't normally go for. But LOLed when I saw this and it had Speirs in in and he's my FAVORITE, so. BADASSSSS. ♥___♥ I don't think I will change it anytime soon, unless I find something that is even more awesome.

» Going to change my layout in the weekend. I miss the sidebar and this one, while very pretty, is a little too small for my liking. I just want something new. And since Photoshop and I are getting along pretty well again (we had a cold relationship for a while) - it gives me an excuse to make a new header and graphics :P

» Work is going well. Kids are still the most awesome ever after almost two weeks. I've met my trainee for the first time today (is that the right word? IDEK. She will be with me every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the whole year and I'll coach her). She's young, 17 years old, but seemed very enthusiastic. I love coaching students and got to admit that I'm always lucky when it comes to them. I've never had a 'bad' one, so to speak.

Quick update before I'm going to bed.

» Whew. After almost two weeks of plotting, collecting, making lists, cropping and photoshopping, my Band of Brothers mood theme is finally finished. 132 moods with not a single repeat. I'M SO HAPPY and feel so accomplished! However, this will be my first and last animated mood theme, cause JFC, soooo much work. D: But I'm content with the result. I think it's a pretty varied mood theme, I tried to include everyone at least twice. I had to watch out though, because it almost turned into a George Luz mood theme. The boy has too many funny faces :'D

» Only one weekend to go before school starts again. \o/ <<-- look at me being excited. Going back tomorrow to prepare the last couple of things. And then on Monday I'll be welcoming my new kiddos. Will post some pictures of my brand new classroom tomorrow. :D

» I'm going to Bastogne next weekend! Going with my mom and we will be visiting all the WWII places, including the foxholes in Bois Jacques. So looking forward to that.

Also, I kind of want a Band of Brothers moodtheme now, but the ones I've found I either don't really like or the images are too big. I guess I'll have to make one myself. Maybe an animated one this time.

» Bought an iPod Touch today. I loooooooove it! Gave my iPod Classic to my brother who's very happy with it. Helped him today with installing everything and his computer was soooo slow. Ended up staying with him for the whole day, but I had a great time. My brother and I never talk that much, but when we do see each other it's always fun.

» Went to see my physiotherapist yesterday. Since everything is alright with my back, I won't have to come back \o/. He said it would be kind of pointless and a waste of money and I of course agreed. I'm happy, cause since he was very nice, those sessions with him were not much fun. I just can't handle pain very well :P

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] chavelaprincess! Hope you have a lovely day, my dear.

» My physiotherapist is the best. While he did hurt me last friday, my pain has completely disappeared. My back is a little stiff, but that's all. I'M PAIN FREE, YAY! \o/

» I thought my Joe crush was over, but then I saw these pictures yesterday. I mean, look at him. He's the prettiest and most adorable ever. ♥

^^ Ain't that the truth.

» a story about sport heroes who didn't bring the cup home, but did come home as winners. )

» Everybody go and join [livejournal.com profile] claire_kay's awesome new graphics community [livejournal.com profile] palejewels. She's a wonderful iconmaker and I'm so happy I can call her my friend ♥

» Watching Band of Brothers again, with my mom this time. She's just as taken with it as I am. I love the characters and actors more and more each time I watch an episode. Lipton (who is really Donnie Wahlberg (NKOTB) and omg did I squeeee and facepalm when I discovered that. I thought he had a familiar face when I first watched the series, but did not really recognize him as one of my childhood heroes, lol) is one of my favorites. Along with Speirs, who's such a BAMF (and omg the actor who plays him is so gorgeous ♥) but a real good leader. And Doc Roe with his sexy voice. And I could go on and on. Did I mention I just really love the series? I hate that there's not really a fandom for it, though. It seems to have died down. That's what you get, for being 10 years late. fghklhglwg;gq;.

» Going to school tomorrow to get my classroom ready for the new schoolyear. There's a lot to do, since I moved with all my stuff to another classroom and I don't think I'll get everything done tomorrow. But I wanted to make a start, cause I KNOW that I'll be bitching and moaning about the new schoolyear starting in my last week of vacation :P

» Off to bed now. Have a good evening, bb's. <3

My daddy said it right after the semi-finals; “don’t be glad that we’re in the final, it is absolute torture and the heartbreak when losing will be enormous.” I laughed and said he was crazy. But the man was right. My parents have been through three world cup finals. The first one in ’74, when we lost against Germany, the second time in ’78 against Argentina. And now for the third time. Spain was simply the better team. I can admit that.

But it was torture. The entire match. The suspense and tension I experienced in these 120 minutes is something I never want to experience again. I cried, I screamed, but most off all I was scared to death.

So when Spain made the 1-0 I was like: PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, I don’t even care anymore, I’m just SO glad it’s OVER. I didn’t watch the last few minutes; I went outside and sat all alone on the street and stared at the stars while the tears streamed down my face. Tears of sadness but also tears of pure relief. I got hugged by complete strangers. From far away I could hear fireworks and cars honking; probably the Spanish community who expressed their joy.

I’m sad we lost. But I’m glad it’s over. And with pain in my heart, but completely deserved, I say; Congratulations Spain. You did well.

I’m off to cry some more. In my orange shirt. Because I am still proud of my boys.

:’(

» The last couple of days I've been doing nothing except reading. Reading and educating myself; first with Stephen Ambrose's Band of Brothers book, which gave me a lot of more insight about Easy Company. The book, as it's mostly the case when making movies of books, has a lot more information that wasn't covered in the series. It was both a delightful and heartbreaking read. Whenever I'm interested in something, I want to get to the bottom of it. I want to know everything about the subject. So I ordered Dick Winters' book and all of the other avalaible books of the Easy Company veterans ('Wind' Bill Guarnere, Lynn 'Buck' Compton, Don Malarkey and the 'We Who Are Alive and Remain: Untold Stories from the Band of Brothers'). I finished Ambrose's book yesterday and immediately started on Winters' memoirs. It's very interesting to read it from his point of view. Winters' very detailed story about the training in Camp Toccoa is fascinating. I can't wait to read the other books.

» My dad is at a music festival in the south of the Netherlands and will be away all weekend. My mom and I took this opportunity to have dinner at a restaurant with just the two of us. As it was still early (4pm) and there weren't a lot of customers, most of the waiters and waitresses sat outside, next to our table. At one point, a smoking hot waiter comes to the table and smiled and winked at me. Rawr. But it wasn't meant to be. As I had sort of guessed he was gay. Or in his words, 'a homosexual'. He told us a story of a female customer who'd kept hitting on him. When he told her he was 'a homosexual' she'd cursed, called him a vieze flikker (dirty faggot), paid and left. He raged about homophobia and showed me a picture of his adorable boyfriend. Then he noticed my bracelet and gave me a high-five. I've been wearing this bracelet for almost 3 years now and have never taken it off. Not even when I'm sweaty, like I am now.

» Speaking off sweaty, it is almost unbearably hot here. I've been complaining about the cold the whole winter and spring, but now that summer is finally here, I wish it WAS cold. It is the hottest I've ever expierenced. We've had days when it was 35C (Celsius, which is 95 degrees in Fahrenheit). That is very, very unusual for our little country.

» Tomorrow is the world cup finale. I'm not sure I'm gonna make it to the end of it. I'm already so damn nervous. I'm about to puke. Whenever I think of it, my heart beats faster and I get even more sweaty than I already am. It's torture, really. The only thing I'm asking for is PLEASE don't let there be any penalties. GOD NO. I can't take that. D:

HUP HOLLAND HUP. GO GET THEM, TIGERS (or in our case, lions). Make me proud, please?

If Spain wins tomorrow, I'm gonna cry my eyes out. No doubt I'm gonna be sick, too (like I was in '98, I seriously puked my guts out after the lost match against Brazil). But then at least we were beat by an excellent team with awesome players.

SHAKING AND CRYING. IS THIS REAL LIFE?

I can not believe it. We made it to the fucking world cup final.

First off, this man is awesome. Always keeping his cool, almost stoic at times but I love him for that. He's only truly satisfied when his guys bring out their best and will scold them if they don't. His goal for this tournament was simple: win the world cup. Not going to see how far we could get, but just really simply getting the job done and winning this thing.

I love you, Bert van Marwijk. I loved you when you coached Feyenoord all those years back, when you and the boys won the UEFA cup in 2002 and I love you now. You really made this team a TEAM. A tight group of friends who are not playing or working for themselves but for each other. They are doing this together and it's beautiful.

On the left, our crown prince Willem-Alexander and his wife Maxima. She's awesome. <3 On the right, Giovanni van Bronckhorst right after he made the 1-0.

\o/ More Giovanni, because he's incredible. Next week - the final - will be his last game ever. After that, he'll retire. The Netherlands and Feyenoord will miss him. :( I'm so glad he got to score, though. No one deserved it more than he did.

Ouch. I cringed when I saw that. That must have hurt like a son of a bitch. Demy de Zeeuw is now at the hospital to see if his jaw and teeth are still in tact. Jesus Christ.
Arjan Robben, after the third goal for Holland. <3 Never really liked him before the world cup, but he's one of my heroes now, lol.

AAAAH, WE DID IT. Time for a PARTYYYYYY. Dirk Kuyt and Mark van Bommel are my favorites, so this picture warms my heart. ♥___♥

Bert van Marwijk, losing his cool and celebrates with the guys.

from cnn:

Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk was proud of his team, who have won all six matches in the finals, the best record of any side.

"It's amazing that we have managed to do this. It's been 32 years (that the Netherlands last played in a final). It is unbelievable. We can be very proud for such a small country," he told AFP.

This will be our third world cup final. Let's hope this time we'll win. I'm secretly hoping for a Germany - Holland final; it would be such sweet revenge for '74.

Gah. This is such a beautiful moment I could cry.

» Yes, I realize that I am late, but OMFG. Holland won! :D :D :D

My voice was completely gone yesterday. I had screamed so hard during the game that I could not utter a word anymore. It’s back now, but I’m still quite hoarse. But damnit, we beat Brazil, people.

I seriously thought it was over for us when Brazil made the 0-1. Then the second half of the match was much better and when that one Brazil player got the red card, I finally became confident that we could win this thing. And we did.

I’m still beaming. What a fantastic day it was. <3

» I HAVE SIX WEEKS OFF, GUYS. NO WORK, NO KIDS, NO NOTHING. EXCEPT LAZY DAYS AND FUN STUFF. AND FINALLY SOME TIME FOR LIVEJOURNAL. <3 I’M SO HAPPY.

» Went to bed at 11pm last night and woke up 14 hours later. I really needed that. It’s been so hot the last couple of days, and that combined with being crazy busy at work and being stressed over the world cup had me exhausted.

» Having a bbq tonight at our place. The sun is shining, the beer is cold, I think I’m gonna have a good time.

» Anyone interested in being an editor for [livejournal.com profile] kradam_news? We’re looking for at least one more person to help us out.

» I’m so behind on answering emails and messages. I’ll catch up and reply this week, I swear.

» Happy 4th of July!

» the only times i ever use caps are when i write things for my work and here on lj. but i'm lazy now and don't want to touch the shift key today. so no caps this time. sorry.

» work is kicking my ass. only 4 more weeks to go until summerbreak. but damn, i get dizzy when i think about what i still have to do. it's crazy busy and i'm stressing out big time. and to top that, i got 4 new kids the past two weeks and they all need to learn the rules. generally they're very sweet (4 years old and still so innocent and sweet) but they're sucking all my energy up.

Oh deer. I just did a friends cut. If you’re removed and you read this; it’s nothing personal. Some I cut because I never talk to them (anymore), others because I don’t even know them and/or don’t remember why we became friends in the first place.

If you want to be added back, just leave a comment here.

To those who stayed: ♥

omg, i feel soooo bad now.

I was supposed to be at a John Mayer concert tonight. It'd would have started right about now, I guess. But it got cancelled, because John is apparently very sick. :( I heard the news this morning when I woke up and I was really disappointed. I already got my chance in January, though, so I'm really happy that I got to experience that. But I know that for a lot of other fans this was the first time they'd see John live. Not John's fault, obviously, but dang, I had looked really forward to it. Hope it's nothing too serious.

He looked very sick when he was here in the weekend @ PinkPop, a very large festival in the south of the Netherlands. They aired some performances on tv and he looked like crap. Very exhausted, voice strained, small eyes and just lacking energy. I guess he was already sick then :(.

Poor bb. Feel better soon!
